March Classroom News
March blew in like a force! The first week brought Dr. Seuss fun! Our 4’s celebrated his birthday in a big way. Each class created a hallway bulletin board based on one of his books. The children then voted for their favorite board. In the classroom, they made Cat in the Hat hats, read lots of stories and played lots of games. It was also “P” week and so the children were invited to wear their pajamas and made pancakes in class based on the book “Pancakes, Pancakes” by: Eric Carle. They are now in the process of making a book all about themselves. They will learn their birthdate, phone number and address as part of the process. We will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by making Irish Soda bread in class. The children will measure and pour following a recipe. After that, it will be time to get ready for Easter. We will make a church visit and prepare some fun Easter decorations.
March is also National Reading month. Each student brought home a calendar to keep track of how many days someone will read to them. Reading every day to your child is the most important step in early Literacy! The children will bring back their calendars at the end of the month and we will have a Reading celebration. We will also be having guest readers from the parish and our school, coming into the classrooms to read to the children. Watch the parent board for details! March is a busy month!
